Nature provides us with many solutions: they enhance the current designs of wind turbine blades, energy-efficient buildings, micro-plastics, etc. However, the most celebrated example of biomimicry is probably the redesign of the Shinkansen train to explicitly enhance its performance using avian characteristics.
These examples help us to move from the existing “extractive engineering” paradigm to the new “emulative engineering” paradigm.
